Iced Yew

I was talking to my husband while standing in the living room this afternoon when I spotted this outside the window.  I put on my boots, grabbed my camera and tromped through the snow in the front yard to shoot a picture.  This has been SUCH an odd winter and icicles are in just the oddest places. This bush is under where the roof can drip; hence it is decorated with icicles. In all the years I have lived in this house (13) I have NEVER seen so much ice!

  1. That is so stunning! I have been tempted several times to pull over and take a picture of ice on a roof. Wow! Makes me want to go looking for some now. :-)

  2. It looks like a Chihuly glass sculpture, minus the blazing colour. Very cool.

  3. So interesting seeing the contrast in seasons on all the blogs. The ice is so fascinating how it forms in and around everything.

  4. These are great shots Lynn! And this "ice sculpture" is a very nice image. If you watch it from your living room on a sunny day, you might find at some time of the day that the lighting creates bright glints from the ice surface that will spray into the camera, maybe even breaking into color. Keep shooting, your compositions are wonderful.

  5. Thanks for the encouragement, Thor! Yes, I was kicking myself that I hadn't noticed this tree EARLY in the day (it only gets morning sunshine).
